General Overview:

The Financial Accountant is an essential member of the finance team, tasked with the critical responsibility of managing and maintaining the organization's financial records. This role involves direct reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Operations and plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and reconcile financial records and ledgers to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist in the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Authorize and oversee cash disbursements to ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Conduct timely bank statement and general ledger reconciliations, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Maintain the general ledger, including coding invoices and closing monthly accounts.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and verify all deposits.
  • Ensure accurate payment processing for accounts payable and verify proper account allocations.
  • Facilitate audit processes by coordinating with auditors and providing necessary documentation.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor adherence to GAAP standards and report discrepancies to the Vice President of Finance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiar with accounting software.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a non-profit environment.
  • Knowledge of grant management and reporting.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks and CPA certification.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
