Position Summary

This role is centered on providing care for patients undergoing cardiology interventions and those in recovery.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, four 10-hour shifts, no weekend obligations.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience in cardiology is essential.
  • ACUTE CARE GERO NP certification is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:

  1. Clinical Duties:
    • Collaborating with attending physicians to provide clinical leadership and direction.
    • Conducting thorough patient assessments and formulating medical diagnoses.
    • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
    • Creating and documenting comprehensive treatment plans.
    • Implementing clinical protocols and ensuring timely patient interventions.
    • Performing necessary invasive procedures.
    • Coordinating patient care transitions and communicating effectively with healthcare teams.
    • Educating patients and families about treatment plans and health maintenance.
    • Facilitating referrals and specialty consultations as required.
    • Advocating for patient involvement in their care.
  2. Educational Contributions:
    • Providing educational support to healthcare team members.
    • Mentoring nursing students and new staff.
    • Engaging in community health education initiatives.
  3. Leadership and Quality Improvement:
    • Coordinating nurse practitioner coverage and collaborating with physician leaders.
    • Participating in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
    • Contributing to the development of clinical pathways and standards of practice.
  4. Customer Service:
    • Demonstrating a commitment to exceptional service for all patients and families.
    • Ensuring confidentiality and respect for all individuals.
  5. Professional Development:
    • Maintaining licensure and certifications as required.
    • Engaging in ongoing professional education and organizational initiatives.
  6. Research Engagement:
    • Participating in clinical trials and contributing to nursing research.
Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in Nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  2. Current registration with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses.
  3. CPR and ACLS certifications as required.
  4. A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  5. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Working Conditions

This position may require weekend, holiday, and on-call duties. Exposure to infectious diseases is possible, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
