Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and writing English relevant to job duties
  • Possession of a valid Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • At least two current letters of recommendation from a school coach or educator
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to perform job responsibilities safely

  • Compliance with kitchen dress code for safety and hygiene (closed-toe, non-slip footwear, no jewelry, gloves over manicured nails, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, stock, and maintain the serving area and assist in food preparation and cleanup
  • Help accurately identify reimbursable meals on the serving line
  • Set up the serving line with appropriate equipment, utensils, and safety measures
  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with food safety regulations, following all local and state guidelines as well as HACCP protocols
  • Wash dishes and equipment according to health department standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and manage waste disposal as assigned
  • Ensure product quality through visual inspection and adherence to cooking and serving guidelines to uphold customer satisfaction
  • Foster respectful relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community
  • Perform all related duties as required
  • Execute all tasks in a safe and responsible manner as directed

Physical Requirements – Heavy Work:

  • This position typically requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, speaking, hearing, and visual acuity (with correction) among other physical demands.
  • Employees must be able to stand and walk consistently on various surfaces while performing duties, including using push/pull force of up to 50 lbs. for various equipment.
  • Employees must frequently lift items of various sizes, up to 30 lbs., with assistance required for items over 50 lbs.
  • Employees may encounter travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.
