About This Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Claims Pre-Auditor I to join our team in Hilo, HI. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for reviewing and pre-auditing various voucher or payroll claims against the County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews voucher or payroll claims against the County to ensure accuracy and compliance with laws, ordinances, rules, and policies.
  • Determines whether claims are based on appropriate supporting documents and verifies charges made to proper fund and account codes.
  • Prepares, reviews, and records maintenance of payroll, purchasing, or processing of claims, including TDI, worker's compensation, insurance, voucher, and payroll claims.
  • Maintains control records and files, compiles and tabulates statistical data, and performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of clerical experience, with two years involving preparation, review, and record maintenance of payroll, purchasing, or processing of claims.
  • Knowledge of county payroll or purchasing procedures and forms, claims pre-auditing procedures, laws, ordinances, and rules governing purchasing and contracting or payroll matters, filing methods, office practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to pre-audit claims, make arithmetical computations, compile and tabulate fiscal data, prepare reports, understand, interpret, and apply laws, ordinances, and regulations relating to claims, work harmoniously with others, operate adding and calculating machines, and typewriter.
