Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Wheelchair Assistant to join our team at Bags, a SP+ Company. As a Wheelchair Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort and safety of our passengers with mobility needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to passengers traveling in wheelchairs, including pushing them to and from gates and assisting with luggage.
  • Maintain a friendly and positive attitude, always being attentive to each passenger's individual needs.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with passengers, asking safety and security questions as necessary.
  • Complete any necessary wheelchair or incident reports.
  • Follow dispatcher gate orders and maintain professional working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, managers, airline employees, and airport authorities.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to clear a background and drug screen.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and push a loaded wheelchair up to 300lbs up and down inclines throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift passengers from the wheelchair to the seat on the plane.
  • Experience in customer service preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills using appropriate grammar, tone, and pronunciation to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Complete all required training including airport compliance.
  • Able to obtain an airport badge.
Work Environment

This is a physically demanding position that requires on-the-job security training and the ability to receive all applicable airport security badges. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, communicate with customers and fellow employees, sit, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds regularly and move in a relatively quick manner.
