Gaming Operations Supervisor

Position Summary
The Gaming Operations Supervisor is accountable for delivering exceptional guest experiences through effective management and oversight of the Gaming Operations division, which encompasses Slots, Table Games, and Sportsbook activities. This role may also serve as the managerial representative in the absence of the Operations Shift Manager (OSM).
Key Responsibilities - Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the integrity of daily operations while adhering to regulatory, departmental, and corporate policies.
- Maintaining optimal operational standards and high-quality service throughout all business hours.
- Directly overseeing all personnel involved in table games and slots during assigned shifts.
- Evaluating employee performance and providing constructive feedback.
- Monitoring and supervising table game and slot activities to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Establishing and nurturing effective communication channels within the team.
- Assisting in the approval of game openings and closings, managing payroll, and coordinating additional staffing as necessary.
- Preparing reports and handling other administrative tasks as required.
- Ensuring adequate inventory of supplies is maintained at all times.
- Monitoring the security of gaming equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Assuming full responsibility for the gaming floor in the absence of the OSM.
- Authorizing significant payouts and ensuring the accuracy of all transactions.
- Protecting casino assets against theft and maintaining the security of the property.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
- Ensuring staff is well-informed about services, promotions, and events to enhance player experience.
- Keeping updated on regulatory controls, including state and federal laws and gaming commission regulations.
- Training and managing staff in accordance with established standards and policies.
- Flexibility to work various schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment - The work environment is characterized by high demands and elevated noise levels. Employees may frequently encounter secondhand tobacco smoke and airborne particles.
Equipment Used - Proficiency in using computer systems, photocopiers, fax machines, and telephones is required. Familiarity with gaming equipment such as card shufflers, dice, and other related tools is also necessary.
Physical Requirements - The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand and walk for approximately 80% of the time, along with the capacity to sit, use hands for various tasks, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and communicate effectively. The role may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 45 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, along with the ability to adjust focus.
Education and Experience - A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in table games and slots, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. Experience with slot machine technology is preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for a work permit from the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
- Strong customer service skills and knowledge of service principles.
- Familiarity with various table games, including blackjack, craps, and roulette.
- Understanding of slot machine operations.
- Knowledge of marketing promotions and casino events.
- Ability to produce routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in database software, human resources systems, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage challenging customer interactions and respond promptly to their needs.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse workforce and respecting cultural differences.
- Adherence to policies and procedures, completing administrative tasks accurately and timely.
- Ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines.
