We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Lead Therapist to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our respiratory therapy department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, leading a team of respiratory therapists, and ensuring the highest level of clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Provide routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
- Review and document all clinical information regarding each patient.
- Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
- Develop all technical policies, procedures, and standards governing the organization and operations of the Respiratory Therapy department.
- Makes staffing assignments and delegates duties to personnel to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Provides clinical support and acts as a resource to Respiratory Therapy staff and personnel in order to provide optimal care.
- Steers progressive clinical excellence through staff development. Actively participates in the selection, training, development, and evaluation of the healthcare team.
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
- Current License as Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
- Certificate by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist must be obtained within one year of hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
