Position Overview

The Dam Safety Engineer will play a vital role in assisting the Chief Dam Safety Engineer to ensure adherence to Federal regulations governing dam safety. Key duties include evaluating annual Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Reports, performing inspections of dam structures, and providing civil engineering expertise for various projects. This role may require travel to different operational sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Operational Dam Safety Program and comply with FERC regulations;
  • Deliver civil engineering assistance for projects and facilities;
  • Execute thorough inspections of dam safety;
  • Analyze data to propose enhancements;
  • Engage with both internal teams and external partners;
  • Remain updated on industry developments;
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • At least 5 years of experience in water resource management or municipal engineering;
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or commitment to obtain one;
  • Experience in project management and client relations;
  • Familiarity with FERC regulations and Emergency Action Plans;
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities;
  • Willingness to travel as necessary;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
