Key Responsibilities

The Reserve Alternative Response Unit Driver plays a crucial role in providing safe and professional transportation services for individuals seeking assistance at the Sobering Center.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Regular attendance is a fundamental requirement of this role.
  • Operate a city-owned passenger vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
  • Assist passengers with loading and unloading from vehicles.
  • Follow designated routes and respond promptly to transportation requests.
  • Exhibit understanding and sensitivity towards the needs of individuals requiring transportation.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the vehicle for passenger pick-ups.
  • Complete necessary paperwork as required.

Additional Responsibilities

May assist in coordinating or instructing other personnel as assigned. The duties listed are illustrative and not exhaustive; other related tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Equipment Utilized

Use of radios, cell phones, tablets, and other electronic devices as required, along with janitorial and cleaning supplies.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform essential functions, including frequent standing, walking, and using hands to operate tools and controls. Occasional sitting, climbing, and lifting may also be necessary. Candidates must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

Employees may work in various weather conditions and may encounter moving mechanical parts and other environmental factors.

Qualifications

All candidates must adhere to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes pre-employment and random testing. Requirements include:

  • Passing an entrance exam and interview panels.
  • Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment physical examination.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Knowledge of driver safety protocols.
  • Completion of CPR/First Aid training prior to the first assigned shift.
