Job Summary

The City of Farmington is seeking a Reserve Alternative Response Unit EMT to provide transportation services in a safe and professional manner for individuals seeking shelter to the Sobering Center.

This is a temporary position with a hiring range of $21.00/hour.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a City-owned passenger vehicle, assisting with passenger loading and unloading, and following assigned routes and responding to calls for pick-up.

The ideal candidate will have a valid New Mexico driver's license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a working knowledge of driver safety and CEVO class.

Additionally, the candidate must be able to read and write the English language, have a working knowledge of City of Farmington streets, and possess NM EMT basic or above licensure.

The Reserve Alternative Response Unit EMT will work under the general supervision of the Reserve ARU Supervisor or Deputy Chiefs and will be required to complete thorough vehicle pre-trip, post-trip, and inspections as required.

The position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.

Job Requirements

  • Valid New Mexico driver's license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of driver safety and CEVO class
  • Ability to read and write the English language
  • Working knowledge of City of Farmington streets
  • NM EMT basic or above licensure
  • Ability to act effectively in emergent and stressful situations
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the general public

Working Conditions

The work environment for this position will include working in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in high precarious places.

The noise level in the work environment will be moderate.

Qualifications

This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.

The successful candidate will be required to pass an entrance exam, a series of interview panels, an extensive background check, a pre-employment physical examination, and a pre-employment drug screen.

The candidate must be 18 years or older at the time of employment.
