Job Title: Lead Behavioral Health Technician

At Connecticut Children's, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lead Behavioral Health Technician to join our team. As a key member of our behavioral health team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The Lead Behavioral Health Technician will serve as a shift leader, supporting teams in patient escalations, evaluating plans of care, and managing unit milieu. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, stress management, and the ability to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Function as a shift leader, supporting teams in patient escalations and evaluating plans of care.
  • Manage unit milieu and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Communicate observations of the environment and patient indicators to the team.
  • Work with resource nurses to develop plans for patients identified as at risk for crisis intervention.
  • Support visitation guidelines and policies as established by the unit and hospital.
  • Identify, report, and resolve potential or actual problems in the unit.
  • Document incidents, including seclusion and restraints, as applicable.
  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living, obtain vital signs, and weights.
  • Perform Point of Care testing on collected specimens.
  • Help apply and remove physical restraints as directed by the attending medical provider.
  • Conduct audits on violent restraints and chart audits for ASQ compliance.
  • Participate in related committees or groups.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree required along with six months of direct patient or client care, or a High School diploma required along with 5 years of experience in a Mental Health related field.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required upon hire.
  • Certification in the current de-escalation program.
