Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician

At Connecticut Children's, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our team in the Emergency Department. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients and their families, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the intake and admission process for behavioral/psychiatric patients, collecting data and completing inventories of personal items.
  • Communicate effectively with the care team to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, addressing patient indicators of escalation or increased risk.
  • Support visitation guidelines and policies, maintaining boundaries for patients, families, and staff.
  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), completing patient documentation as needed.
  • Obtain vital signs and weights as delegated by the Registered Nurse, collaborating with the care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Participate in post-restraint huddles and maintain a safe environment, ensuring minimal hallway clutter and obstructions.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a pediatric emergency department or psychiatric/behavioral health unit.
  • BLS CPR for Healthcare Provider certification required upon hire and maintained current at all times.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CNI) certification required within 3 months of hire and maintained current at all times.
