Job Summary:

A Patient Care Tech in our Emergency Department Observation Unit provides exceptional care to patients with acute and chronic needs. This role involves caring for patients in an ambulatory clinic setting, responding to patient care needs, and communicating effectively with the care team.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting patients with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicating constructively with the care team.
Perform 12-lead EKG duties, apply and check restraints, and document patient information accurately.
Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges, and maintain patient charts and daily assignment boards.
Order and maintain office and patient care floor stock/supplies, and perform equipment care and cleaning tasks.

Requirements:

Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program
Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ years of previous experience in a healthcare setting

Physical Requirements:

This role requires ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers is required to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
