Job Summary


The Chief Assessment Officer reports to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Planning and will play a pivotal role in coordinating comprehensive assessment initiatives across the College.

This position is tasked with developing and overseeing a robust framework for gathering and disseminating assessment data to faculty, staff, and administrators throughout the institution.

The Chief Assessment Officer will primarily collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research to collect, analyze, and present data that supports institutional effectiveness.

Additionally, this role will work closely with Academic Affairs, including the Office of E-Learning, to enhance student learning outcomes within the College's learning management system.

The Chief Assessment Officer is instrumental in supporting both institutional and academic program accreditations.


Responsibilities/Duties


1. Plan, organize, and coordinate strategic, comprehensive, and ongoing academic assessment programs that measure student learning and achievement (educational effectiveness).

2. Collaborate with various programs to develop assessment plans that monitor progress toward program learning objectives and goals.

3. Review coordinator reports and provide constructive feedback to programs regarding assessment plans and progress.

4. Work alongside academic and support service personnel to streamline assessment data coordination.

5. Establish goals and organizational procedures to enhance the operational effectiveness of professional development, including partnerships with the Center for Teaching, Learning & Innovation.

6. Coordinate academic and non-academic assessment activities to ensure compliance with relevant accreditation standards.

7. Promote the advancement of academic assessment and the improvement of student learning through effective outreach efforts, including consultation, training, mentoring, and resource development.

8. Collect and evaluate program accreditation/review assessment data to assist programs in implementing findings for continuous improvement and to identify opportunities for expanding student learning.

9. Collaborate with Institutional Research to prepare assessments that summarize findings and report on the quality of institutional assessment efforts.

10. Provide assessment information to college leadership to support institutional decision-making and growth in alignment with strategic objectives.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications


- Master’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.

- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education, including program development, curriculum management, learning outcomes development and assessment, faculty development, and related experiences.

- Three (3) years of management or supervisory experience in an academic program.

- Five (5) years of teaching experience at an accredited institution.

- Advanced knowledge and experience in state, regional, and/or national accreditation processes.

- Demonstrated experience with Program Review and Evaluation.

- Proficient technical skills using a Student Information System (preferably Banner), including database design, data collection, and analysis related to assessment.

- Experience in facilitating workshops, seminars, and other activities for faculty and staff on assessment.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze substantial amounts of data.

- Proven experience using data visualization and statistical tools for data analysis (Excel, SPSS, SQL, etc.).

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff across the institution through Shared Governance committees.

- Experience with academic program and/or institutional accreditation.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications


- Doctorate degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.

- Six (6) or more years of experience in higher education, including program development, curriculum management, learning outcomes development and assessment, faculty development, and related experiences.

- Four (4) or more years of management or supervisory experience in an academic program.

- Six (6) or more years of teaching experience at an accredited institution.

- Experience with Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation.
