Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and diligent individual to fill the role of an Ophthalmic Technician. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, supported by a caring staff and management team, and who values positive patient interactions.

The Ophthalmic Technician will be integral to the clinic, assisting both the medical team and patients. The primary responsibility is to ensure exceptional patient care while supporting the doctors and fellow staff members. This role is essential in upholding the mission, vision, and values of The Eye Care Group.

Key Responsibilities

As an Ophthalmic Technician, your duties will include:

  • Demonstrating proficiency in ophthalmic assisting procedures and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism and warmth.
  • Executing all tasks assigned by physicians or leadership, including vision checks, intraocular pressure assessments, and assisting with clinical procedures.
  • Providing mentorship and training to new technicians, fostering a culture of learning and support.
  • Monitoring personal productivity and responsibilities on the clinical floor, adapting methods to enhance efficiency and patient service.
  • Exhibiting punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude characterized by teamwork, self-motivation, and professionalism.
  • Adhering to all practice protocols and regulations, and being proactive in reporting any potential issues.
  • Accepting accountability for actions and demonstrating a willingness to learn from feedback.
  • Ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Adapting to changes in the workplace and facilitating a smooth transition.
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues and patients, both verbally and in writing.

Performance-based pay increases and bonus eligibility after one year of employment.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong computer skills for data entry and medical record management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Reliability and a willingness to learn about clinical operations.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as needed.
  • A commitment to working 37.5 hours per week.
  • COVID vaccination is required.

Willingness to pursue certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) within 1-2 years is encouraged.
