Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Engines business unit, you will be responsible for leading risk and opportunity management for engine programs, ensuring the development of innovative and safe propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement risk-informed decision-making processes to drive strategic program planning
  • Manage risks and opportunities at the program and business unit level
  • Lead risk development sessions and program-level risk decision meetings
  • Ensure high-quality information and data is documented in each risk
  • Analyze and report on trends and patterns in risk and opportunity management data
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies for risk and opportunity management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to share best practices and ensure the risk process provides high value to teams
  • Conduct regular risk and opportunity management training sessions for engineering and program management teams
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant technical field
  • 10+ years of system development/integration experience, preferably in aerospace or complicated technical systems
  • A track record of successful risk management in complex, high-profile aerospace projects
  • Expertise in risk management standards, methodologies, and state-of-the-art tools
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, particularly in the context of spaceflight applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective mitigation plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead discussions and mentor team members
  • Demonstrated ability to pull teams together to solve problems
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, while contributing to a team-oriented and collaborative culture
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Liquid rocket engine or propulsion system development experience
  • Strong mechanical or fluids systems design or analysis fundamentals
  • Experience with program or project management
  • Expertise with state-of-the-art risk management tools and software
  • Experience with Tableau
  • Experience with effective risk management tools and software
  • Experience with database queries, such as SQL
