Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Butler America Aerospace, LLC. As a key member of our LAVATORY Integrated Project Team, you will be responsible for designing and developing new products and systems for commercial aircraft LAVATORY monuments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation of top-level LAVATORY assembly models in NX
  • Design and development of new detailed components and subassemblies
  • Creation of new design options for new customer requirements and following these designs through purchasing, testing, and operations
  • Conducting internal design reviews and supporting customer meetings as technical focal
  • Publishing parts lists and conducting peer reviews of models and drawings
  • Creating design solutions to support change requests and updating the weight matrix of assigned programs
  • Understanding new customer requirements and coordinating with the integrated product team as the engineering representative

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 10+ years of related experience and/or training in product design
  • Strong engineering skills including structures, mechanisms, systems, kinematics, and free body diagrams
  • Ability to multitask and own several projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with ESL engineers
  • Relevant 3D solid modeling and drafting experience, preferably in NX
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Requirements:

  • NX (formerly Unigraphics) and Siemens Teamcenter experience
  • Experience with commercial Aircraft LAVATORY monuments or other interior products
  • Ability to interact with high levels of internal and external management
  • Experience with kaizen workshops or other lean activities
  • Experience with updating or authoring standard work and processes
