Division Insight: The PACCAR Technical Center excels in providing engineering solutions to the truck, engine, and winch divisions through innovative product development and rigorous testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up heavy-duty diesel engine vehicles for climatic chassis dynamometer evaluations.
- Operate the truck on the chassis dynamometer, demonstrating proficiency in handling a class 8 heavy truck along a simulated route.
- Troubleshoot vehicle issues impacting dynamometer performance.
- Maintain meticulous project documentation and communicate updates, statuses, and challenges promptly.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Conduct vehicle tests and uphold test section conditions utilizing CCD control software.
- Install and configure data acquisition systems.
- Collect, monitor, and analyze test data.
- Develop specialized testing equipment as necessary.
- Utilize engine monitoring software for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Maintain and repair chassis dynamometer test cell equipment under supervision.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Technical Arts with a focus on Diesel Power Technology or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience with strong mechanical skills.
- Proficient in diagnosing vehicle issues, including powertrain and electronics.
- Good computer proficiency and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Capable of managing personal workload with adaptability to changing project demands.
- Ability to operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles on the chassis dynamometer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Skills in machining, welding, and fabrication.
- Experience in supporting engine and powertrain validation testing.
- Commercial Driver License is advantageous.
Work Schedule: This position operates on a second shift schedule, with an initial training period on the first shift until proficiency is achieved.
