Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Assistant to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a timely patient flow, providing a positive customer experience, and delivering high-quality care to our clinic patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess urgent/emergency needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed.
  • Function within payer regulations and guidelines.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and utilize other members of the healthcare team in assessing patients and analyzing patient data.
  • Assess learning needs of patients and significant others, providing accurate and complete information to patients and families.
  • Manage electronic medical records, including test results, retrieval, filing, creation, repair, and charging.
  • Evaluate patient and family understanding of treatment plans and/or instructions.
  • Assist with procedures, exams, and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and document patient interactions in electronic medical records.
  • Report results and pertinent information to patients and healthcare team members.
  • Function according to limitations or scope of license or certification.
  • Maintain professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.
  • Coordinate provider schedules in all areas.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for required procedures and medications to ensure payer approval.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a current or compact state license as a licensed practical nurse, CMA, RN, or EMT/Paramedic issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
  • Outpatient hospital/Clinic experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
Work Schedule

This position involves working closely with a Podiatrist and traveling between clinics. The work schedule includes:

  • Monday: 7:30 - 5 at Centerville Clinic
  • Tuesday: 7:30 - 5 at Ottumwa Mercy Clinic
  • Wednesday: 7:00 - 1:00 at Surgery Clinic
  • Thursday: Every Other Thursday at Centerville Clinic
  • Friday: 8:00 - 5 at Centerville Clinic
