Job Title: Occupational Safety Specialist

Montana State University is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing workers' compensation, Stay-at-Work/Return-to-Work (SAW/RTW) programs, and ensuring accurate and timely submission of MSU's Property Loss Management Insurance Premium Discount Program.

The Occupational Safety Specialist will also assist with multi-line insurance programs, including Property/Casualty, commercial property, boiler & machinery, business interruption, crime, fine art, cyber/information security, tort liability, auto, and associated risk exposure reporting. Duties will include managing certificates of insurance, contract review, and OSHA injury reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in business, risk management, or a related field, and demonstrated knowledge of Montana workers' compensation laws and processes, as well as SAW/RTW programs. Certification as a Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), or Certified Risk Manager (CRM) is preferred.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently, make high-level decisions on behalf of the University, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage workers' compensation and SAW/RTW programs

  • Risk assessment and mitigation strategies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, risk management, or a related field

  • Certification as a CISR, CSRM, CIC, or CRM
