Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Trades Specialist to join our Facilities Management team at New Hanover County. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC equipment in various county-owned buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate work with vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Respond to work orders for preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment, including heat pumps, ice machines, exhaust fans, pumps, and cooling towers
  • Perform all levels of HVAC repair, troubleshooting issues to determine the best course of action for repair or replacement of systems and components
  • Estimate repair costs and materials needed for specific repairs
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
  • Work during emergency/disaster situations and serve in the on-call pool
About the Role

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a competitive salary range of $42,768 annually, plus a sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits package. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, ability to prioritize schedules, and a desire to serve the employees and citizens of New Hanover County.

Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED and 1 year of HVAC service experience; or completion of an approved HVAC apprenticeship program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • CFC Certification
  • Valid Driver's License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application
