Job Overview

The Outpatient Program Director is responsible for overseeing and coordinating service delivery within the outpatient facility. This role includes maintaining professional standards and developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures. The Director will also provide necessary services within their licensure scope and supervise program staff effectively. A key responsibility is to establish a comprehensive multidisciplinary care system.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:


  1. Supervising LPNs, MHTs, and contracted clinicians, as well as laboratory, x-ray, or pharmacy service providers to ensure compliance with patient care standards and regulations.
  2. Creating and executing a program plan that promotes efficient and effective service delivery.
  3. Building and maintaining strong relationships with community, state, and federal entities.
  4. Implementing programs while adhering to budgetary limitations.
  5. Recruiting and retaining qualified staff with the necessary skills and expertise.
  6. Establishing and managing a quality assurance program for outpatient services.
  7. Monitoring and enhancing the quality of services provided.
  8. Improving documentation quality and patient safety measures.
  9. Overseeing contracted services and community education initiatives.
  10. Tracking daily attendance and census against set goals.
  11. Enhancing staff education and training programs.
  12. Performing any additional duties as assigned by the Administrator or CEO.
  13. Executing clinical responsibilities associated with outpatient services within the scope of licensure.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:


  1. Contributing to nursing quality improvement efforts through problem identification and resolution monitoring.
  2. Participating in both short-term and long-term planning for nursing activities and program evaluations.
  3. Facilitating appropriate nursing actions in response to administrative directives and evolving healthcare environments.
  4. Coordinating infection control data collection and monitoring in patient care settings.
  5. Conducting assessments for new patients within specified timeframes.
  6. Providing individualized nursing care as prescribed by physicians.
  7. Managing medication administration, including daily monitoring and storage.
  8. Overseeing therapeutic environments.
  9. Collaborating in the interdisciplinary formulation of individual treatment plans.
  10. Delivering specialized treatments and therapies, including individual, group, and family sessions.
  11. Documenting progress notes for one-on-one and group sessions in accordance with established policies.
  12. Organizing special programs based on patient needs, including disease prevention initiatives.
  13. Staying informed about relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  14. Collaborating with other disciplines and the Medical Director to revise treatment schedules.
  15. Actively participating in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to patient treatment planning.
  16. Coordinating risk management activities to minimize potential injuries and financial losses.
  17. Screening patients for admission appropriateness and obtaining necessary orders.
  18. Completing and signing required admission paperwork in compliance with legal and hospital policies.
