Clinical Educator in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Miami Health System is seeking a dedicated professional for a full-time, Clinician-Educator track role at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. This position involves delivering comprehensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services across various healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in didactic and clinical education, overseeing OMFS residents while providing direct patient care, surgical interventions, consultative services, and outpatient care, including on-call responsibilities and participation in research initiatives.
  • Uphold the mission of UHealth by contributing to medical education, advancing research, and ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Actively participate in local, regional, national, and international activities that influence the future of surgical practices and funding in the healthcare sector.
  • Contribute to the Oral Surgery Service and residency training programs.
  • Collaborate on key departmental initiatives as determined with the Division Chief.
  • Deliver clinical care across all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery while fostering teamwork with fellow physicians in the division.
  • Supervise residents at both the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and the Miami Veterans Administration Hospital, and instruct students in elective surgical programs.
  • Pursue funding opportunities for research under personal supervision.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all services provided in patient medical records.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and hospital bylaws.
  • Exercise final medical judgment in all healthcare-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and be board-certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
  • A broad scope of experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery is essential.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction is required.
  • Candidates must possess an MD and DDS or DMD and be licensed to practice both dentistry and medicine in the United States.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, along with a proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to the department's mission, maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
