Job Summary

The Director of Advancement will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive advancement strategy, including fundraising, donor relations, and communications. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fundraising and Development:
    • Develop and execute strategic fundraising plans to meet or exceed annual revenue targets.
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
    • Oversee fundraising events and sponsorships, ensuring successful planning and fulfillment.
    • Manage the full grant lifecycle: from identifying opportunities to submitting proposals and ensuring post-award compliance.
    • Grow and manage the annual giving program.
    • Regularly present fundraising progress and outcomes to the Board of Directors.
  • Donor Relations and Stewardship:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors through consistent communication and engagement.
    • Develop and implement donor recognition and stewardship programs.
    • Provide timely and accurate reports to donors on the impact of their contributions.
  • Communications and Public Relations:
    • Create and execute a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with fundraising and engagement goals.
    • Enhance the organization's brand and public reputation through effective storytelling and an engaging social media presence.
    • Serve as a spokesperson for STEM for Her at public forums and events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management)
  • 7-10 years of experience in fundraising or development with a proven record of successful campaigns
  • Experience in major gift solicitation and donor stewardship
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, capable of engaging and inspiring diverse stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in fundraising software, donor management systems, and marketing tools (e.g., Greater Giving, Neon One, Constant Contact)
  • Highly self-motivated, energetic, and flexible team player with a 'can-do' attitude and attention to detail
  • Commitment to STEM for Her's mission and values
