Position Summary:

The Fabrication Team Lead is accountable for coordinating daily team operations to guarantee that production schedules are met without compromising quality or safety. In addition to overseeing the team, this role requires active participation in project tasks as a contributing team member when feasible, ensuring that management responsibilities are prioritized. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform all project functions, enabling effective training and collaboration with team members to enhance overall performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate daily production details to the team, including schedules, material shortages, and priorities, ensuring all tasks are assigned and coverage is arranged for absences.
  • Report team status to the Production Manager, highlighting production constraints and additional requirements.
  • Supervise the welding and fabrication team's activities to uphold craftsmanship quality.
  • Ensure team members are familiar with and comprehend all procedural updates and instructions.
  • Monitor safety and quality standards within the welding and fabrication team to ensure compliance with job requirements.
  • Provide training and coaching to team members on project tasks, assessing their skills and identifying training needs.
  • Maintain team schedules to ensure timely project completion.
  • Coordinate all team project tasks with the production team to align welding and fabrication efforts with project timelines.
  • Act as a resource to support welding and fabrication team members as needed.
  • Assist with tool setups and changeovers to minimize downtime for the welding and fabrication team.
  • Review project status and issues with the Production Manager to determine necessary actions for quality and schedule adherence.
  • Continuously seek improvements in procedures, processes, and methods to achieve zero injuries, defects, and excursions.
  • Educate and guide operators in recognizing and resolving common equipment failures.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift, lower, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back to operate machinery and computers.
  • Capability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for extended periods, typically 8 hours or more daily.
  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software; familiarity with Infor Visual is a plus.
  • Prior management experience is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CNC programs.
  • D1.1 structural certification is required.
  • Willingness to learn, with strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and professional, with a readiness to accept responsibility.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude towards colleagues and clients, striving for continuous improvement.
  • Patience to navigate complex projects to completion.
  • Solid understanding of CNC machine tools.
  • Expertise in metal manufacturing is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Nema Standards and UL Listings is preferred.
  • Electro-mechanical experience is advantageous.
  • Commitment to creating and enhancing systems.
  • ISO 9001:2015 experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to undergo background and drug testing.

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position is $33-$38 per hour, inclusive of Restricted Stock Units. Compensation will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market alignment.
