Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for evaluating and ensuring the effectiveness of programs in accordance with established operational standards that align with The Arc Gloucester's mission and regulatory requirements. This role includes conducting investigations and ensuring compliance with the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
Employment Type: Part-time (non-exempt). Flexible scheduling with typical hours during weekdays. This position primarily operates in an office environment, with travel required to various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly review program and individual financial records, including expenditures and inventory management.
- Engage in regular discussions with program management to present financial insights at both program and individual levels.
- Conduct unannounced quality assurance evaluations of programs, addressing staff shortages, health and safety issues, and facility conditions, while assessing staff knowledge of relevant regulations and protocols.
- Maintain organized paper and electronic filing systems for audit documentation.
- Report on program performance and compliance to the respective Residential Manager, Director, and/or Administrator.
- Examine documentation for discrepancies and unusual incidents.
- Investigate claims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and medication errors.
- Travel to agency sites for audits and assessments as needed.
- Uphold confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to the DDD Program Manual, The Arc Gloucester Policies and Procedures Manual, and all applicable regulations.
- Participate in reviews, investigations, and inspections as required.
- Occasionally assist with management tasks, including training, planning, and problem-solving.
- Complete and maintain all required training.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Some college education is preferred, with a bachelor's degree being advantageous; candidates must be at least 18 years old.
- Experience in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years being ideal.
- Familiarity with DHS Licensing Standards for Community Residences is essential.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Interest and aptitude for financial systems and mathematics.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, leadership, families, and regulatory agencies.
- A valid, non-probationary driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Must successfully pass all necessary background checks, including criminal and drug screenings.
