Job Summary
The Visual Communications Specialist plays a crucial role within the creative team, providing expertise in graphic design and photography for both print and digital platforms.

This position collaborates closely with fellow creative professionals to design and create materials for use by CareOregon and its partner organizations.

In addition to crafting visuals for various formats, the Visual Communications Specialist will generate desktop publications, imagery, presentations, web graphics, advertisements, brochures, and will collaborate with internal teams, translators, and print service providers to produce print-ready materials, as well as design and procure promotional items.

Essential Responsibilities

Graphic Design
Utilize creativity to propose innovative design concepts, graphics, and layouts. Execute graphic design projects that align with specifications provided by the Art Director or senior design team members. Ensure consistency with organizational branding, themes, and messaging strategies.

Employ design principles and proficiency in design software to create and produce artwork for a variety of marketing, advertising, and packaging initiatives, encompassing both print and digital formats.

Utilize skills in InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Acrobat to create or update marketing materials. Finalize print-ready documents for production.

Vendor Relations & Resource Support
Collaborate with design and production teams, both internally and externally. Contribute to vendor selection and research; work in partnership with vendors and communicate any delivery issues to the Art Director. Manage the organization’s image library, adhering to established protocols for usage and storage.

Campaign Development/Participation
Work alongside writers and other creative personnel in the execution of marketing campaigns. Coordinate project timelines and deliverables as needed. Collaborate with communications teams to visually convey messages to both internal and external audiences.

Organizational Responsibilities
Conduct work in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Support the commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion by promoting a culture of open-mindedness, cultural awareness, compassion, and respect for all individuals.

Aim to achieve annual business objectives in support of the organization’s strategic goals. Adhere to the organization’s policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Perform additional duties as necessary.

Experience and/or Education Required
Minimum of 2 years of graphic design experience utilizing current software including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. A portfolio showcasing design work is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Familiarity with professional print production processes and an understanding of current design trends.
