Role ResponsibilitiesThe Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery, including but not limited to cranes, bulldozers, and paving machines. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting inspections and operating machinery to identify defects.
- Dismantling and reassembling equipment using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Assessing parts for wear and damage using precision measuring instruments.
- Replacing faulty engines and subassemblies, ensuring optimal performance through testing.
- Welding and repairing broken components and structural elements.
- Cleaning and assisting in the assembly and disassembly of machinery.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned.
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience or formal vocational training.
- Education in a related field may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively, with flexibility to adapt to changing tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in the workplace.
- Physical capability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and working in various positions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform duties in diverse weather conditions.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
- Successful completion of a drug/alcohol test and background checks is mandatory.
