Role Responsibilities

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery, including but not limited to cranes, bulldozers, and paving machines. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting inspections and operating machinery to identify defects.
  • Dismantling and reassembling equipment using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Assessing parts for wear and damage using precision measuring instruments.
  • Replacing faulty engines and subassemblies, ensuring optimal performance through testing.
  • Welding and repairing broken components and structural elements.
  • Cleaning and assisting in the assembly and disassembly of machinery.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience or formal vocational training.
  • Education in a related field may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, with flexibility to adapt to changing tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in the workplace.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and working in various positions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform duties in diverse weather conditions.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Successful completion of a drug/alcohol test and background checks is mandatory.
