Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Officer II to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Public Safety Officer II, you will be responsible for providing security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion in challenging circumstances. You will inspire confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion in challenging circumstances.
  • Inspect facilities and grounds to identify vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire conditions.
  • Conduct thorough contraband searches and audits of Interim Life Safety Measures.
  • Respond to service calls, including combative or threatening patients or visitors and team member incidents.
  • Investigate incidents and complete timely and accurate reports.
  • Liaise with state and local law enforcement and first responder agencies.
  • Assist with training and development of new officers.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in a security or public safety role.
  • Illinois team members must have completed State of Illinois 40-hour armed course with semi-automatic pistol endorsement.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning while maintaining a courteous and tactful demeanor.
  • Ability to use a computer to document work and navigate a web page.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people and hear radio and telephone communications at both high and low decibels.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. occasionally and push/pull with 35 lbs. of force.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
