Houston, Texas, United States Marathon Petroleum Corporation Full time
Join Our Dynamic Team

At Marathon Petroleum Corporation, we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive workplace that values innovative ideas and diverse perspectives. We are dedicated to developing our employees and nurturing a collaborative environment.

POSITION SUMMARY

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) stands as a premier, integrated downstream energy enterprise. We manage the largest refining system in the nation, boasting a crude oil refining capacity of 3 million barrels per calendar day across 13 refineries. Our refineries are interconnected through pipelines, terminals, and barges, optimizing operational efficiency.

Marathon Petroleum Supply and Trading (MST) plays a pivotal role within MPC, focusing on sourcing advantageous feedstocks and maximizing product value. This trading landscape necessitates a top-tier Commercial Risk organization.

The Commercial Risk team is vital to MST, primarily responsible for assessing daily positions, profit and loss (PNL), and exposure, thereby facilitating commercial trading and hedging activities alongside financial analysis and reporting. The roles within Commercial Risk are crucial for overseeing daily trading performance and ensuring the organization extracts value from its supply and trading operations through in-depth financial analysis and strong commercial insight. The team guarantees that financial outcomes align with market conditions, providing independent oversight of trading performance and ensuring compliance with the company's established boundaries.

An opportunity has arisen for an analyst within the Commercial Risk team. In collaboration with the trading team, you will manage a portfolio of supply and trading activities, working closely with traders and schedulers. This role involves defining daily hedges to mitigate market risk on held inventory and facilitating discussions regarding performance and the effects of price fluctuations on your assigned portfolio.

This position offers a pathway for career advancement as a Risk/Middle Office professional, presenting future leadership opportunities and the potential to transition into derivative or physical trading roles, as the Risk organization serves as a key talent pipeline for these areas.
