Job Title: Surgery Manager

CodeForce is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgery Manager to join our team at Heart Hospital of Austin. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the PACU and Surgery departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and control staffing assignments to ensure effective coverage of the department and maintain productivity targets.
  • Prepare and complete work schedules for the appropriate areas, ensuring adequate staffing, including call, on a daily basis.
  • Review daily performance and maintain the department within recommended productivity targets and performance benchmarks.
  • Recommend staffing changes with appropriate rationale to the Director of Surgical Services.
  • Interview and make recommendations for personnel, including hiring, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Review and approve personnel performance appraisals, including establishing goals for each employee.
  • Provide counseling and progressive discipline for employees when necessary, including documentation.
  • Regularly communicate with supervisors and employees through in-service and staff meetings.
Requirements:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5 years of experience in the appropriate area of expertise and 2 years in a supervisory/charge nurse position in Surgery/Day Surgery.
Additional Details:
  • Oversight of PACU, surgery, sterile processing, and valve clinic.
  • 45 FTE.
  • 58-bed facility.
  • 6 ORs, including 3 hybrid ORs.
  • 5 PACU bays.
  • 4 pre-op beds.
  • Just over 900 open heart surgeries in 2021.
  • Salary Range: $90k - $130k.
  • Relocation eligible.
