Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team at CARC, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing all company vehicles and small engine equipment efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including fluid changes, lubrications, tires, safety inspections, and brake repairs.
  • Conduct regular and as-needed inspections on vital equipment to ensure safety and availability of the Fleet.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle systems, accurately identifying causes of maintenance problems and recommending subsequent repairs.
  • Follow procedures for documenting repairs, including mileage/hours, warranty and core parts, and completing work orders in compliant format.
  • Perform final operational tests on all vehicles to quality-check repairs.
  • Accurately and professionally document all actions taken in written and electronic format.
  • Prepare work orders, prioritize required repairs, update vehicle maintenance records, and coordinate repairs with outside vendors.
  • Provide installation, service, and support for Fleet GPS monitoring, tracking, and follow-up investigations as needed.
  • Coordinate with outsourced maintenance done by vendors.
  • Research and schedule unit recalls and upgrades from manufacturers.
  • Change and repair tires.
  • Provide emergency roadside services, minor repairs, and assist in vehicle recovery.
  • May assist in training employees on proper use of vehicles and maintenance procedures.
  • Actively improve professional knowledge, skills, and abilities through routine training sessions and educational seminars.
  • Meet attendance requirements, participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Understand and adhere to all industry safety standards and practices, safely operating vehicles and equipment, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
  • Satisfactory experience of at least two years as a fleet equipment technician.
  • Valid Driver's License - Must be insurable by the liability provider.
  • Strong knowledge of engines, transmission, tires, brakes, and other controls.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems, air systems, chassis and suspension, HVAC, and transmissions.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems; operation and repair.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and safe working practices and procedures.
  • Frequent ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, grasp, and use tools.
  • Ability to push/pull, lift/carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting safety precautions, correctly interpreting Material Safety Data Sheets for materials used daily.
  • Demonstrated ability to use prudent judgment and problem-solving, read, understand, and use maintenance, repair, and parts manuals, computer-based maintenance information systems, service updates, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills to communicate with customers and resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns.
  • Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed/scheduled.
  • May require use of personal tools.
