Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumber/Pipefitter to join our team at the University of Wyoming. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our water, gas, drainage, utility, and heating systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex commercial and industrial mechanical systems, including plumbing fixtures, steam-generating systems, and temperature control systems.
  • Field design, layout, fabricate, and install plumbing systems, including pipe cutting, bending, and joining.
  • Inspect gas heating and water systems for damage, unsafe conditions, or building code violations, and recommend or take remedial action as needed.
  • Perform work in specialized plumbing areas, including replacing plumbing fixtures, cleaning and repairing sewer lines, and installing, repairing, and maintaining hot water and steam heating systems.
  • Recognize and report hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, and mercury.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, plus four-year plumbing apprenticeship program that meets requirements to obtain journeyman-level status for the City of Laramie/State of Wyoming.
  • 1 year experience as a licensed journeyman-level plumber.
  • Completion of an approved plumbing apprenticeship program (4 years) which meets the requirements to attain license from the State of Wyoming and the City of Laramie as a "Journeyman Plumber".
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to diagnose and perform commercial plumbing service calls with minimal oversight on domestic water, sewer, steam, and hydronics with attention to detail.
