Position Title: Store Culinary Specialist

Department: Retail Operations

Reports To: Retail Manager and Executive Chef


Position Summary:

This is a dynamic role that plays a crucial part in maintaining a successful and efficient kitchen environment. The position involves food preparation and cooking within the store's kitchen, ensuring high standards of product quality and presentation.

Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The candidate must demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of the role effectively:

  • Proficiency in the primary language(s) utilized in the workplace.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic understanding of culinary menus, food preparation, and presentation techniques.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Basic mathematical skills for recipe calculations.
  • Proficient in using computer applications.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Engage in both the cooking line and preparation line as scheduled by the Executive Chef or Retail Manager. Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
  • Master and accurately execute all company recipes, ensuring proper ingredient measurements and quality standards.
  • Learn and apply various cooking methods, including baking, roasting, broiling, steaming, and sautéing for a variety of food items.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding workplace conduct, behavior, and appearance.
  • Participate actively in training processes and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Monitor food costs and minimize waste by following recipe guidelines and portion control.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas at all times.
  • Complete all assigned setup, cleaning, and closing duties effectively.
  • Foster a professional relationship with fellow kitchen and retail staff.
  • Commit to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Follow established guidelines for menu preparation and production.
  • Assist in managing food supplies, ensuring proper storage and rotation.
  • Understand and comply with Health Department standards and sanitation practices.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Successful performance of essential duties is required for this position.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • A minimum of three months of kitchen experience is required. Additional culinary education or certifications are preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this role include:

  • Work is primarily conducted indoors, with moderate to high temperatures in the kitchen environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours, and work on the cooking line for up to 5 hours continuously.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Requires dexterity for operating kitchen equipment and performing various tasks.
  • Excellent auditory and visual acuity is necessary for effective communication and task execution.
