Position Details:

  • Shift: 2nd shift; days will vary
  • Full-Time: Night shift in the Emergency Room
  • No Supervisory Responsibilities
  • No Travel Required

JOB SUMMARY:
The primary objective of our nursing team is to deliver exceptional patient experiences while providing comprehensive nursing services across various inpatient and outpatient environments. The Registered Nurse adheres to the nursing process, which encompasses patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care provided. Collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams is essential to offer both physical and psychological support to patients and their families, all while complying with hospital policies and nursing standards. The Emergency Department RN is responsible for caring for patients experiencing a range of illnesses or traumas requiring immediate attention and must be adept at recognizing and addressing life-threatening conditions.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Recent experience in emergency or critical care is preferred.
License/Certifications:
  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of NC.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • ACLS Certification to be obtained during orientation.
  • PALS Certification required within 3 months.
  • TNCC Certification is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Emergency Department RN is responsible for delivering direct and personalized nursing care to patients, utilizing scientific nursing principles. Key responsibilities include:
  1. Creating a compassionate environment by offering emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
  2. Administering professional nursing care to patients.
  3. Maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment.
  4. Adhering to infection control policies to protect patients and staff.
  5. Ensuring the safe operation of medical equipment.
  6. Preparing equipment and assisting physicians during examinations and treatments specific to the Emergency Room.
  7. Administering medications using electronic health records and scanning processes.
  8. Documenting, monitoring, and reporting changes in patient status.
  9. Providing education on illness and promoting health maintenance and disease prevention.
  10. Maintaining confidentiality of patient records.
  11. Communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  12. Conducting comprehensive assessments and reassessments across all age groups.
  13. Interacting professionally with patients and families, providing explanations and reassurance.
  14. Formulating and updating individualized care plans for each patient.
  15. Acting as a patient advocate.
  16. Complying with established protocols, procedures, and policies.
  17. Understanding cardiac monitoring and appropriate treatment for rhythm interruptions.
  18. Prioritizing nursing care and employing critical thinking skills.
  19. Documenting all nursing care data accurately and in a timely manner.
  20. Communicating appropriately with all hospital staff, visitors, families, and physicians.
  21. Demonstrating flexibility and organization while functioning under stress and emergency situations.
  22. Exhibiting professionalism and respect towards all individuals.
  23. Participating in the orientation and training of new personnel, serving as a resource and mentor.
  24. Engaging in special assignments and Quality Improvement projects.
  25. Understanding the triage process and accurately prioritizing patient acuity based on their needs.
