Position Details:

Schedule: Day shifts, variable days | No supervisory duties | Minimal travel required | Compensation based on experience.

Role Summary:

The primary objective of our nursing staff is to ensure an outstanding patient experience while delivering professional nursing services across various inpatient and outpatient environments. The Registered Nurse adheres to the nursing process, which encompasses patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care provided. Collaboration with physicians and a multidisciplinary team is essential to offer both physical and emotional support to patients and their families, all while following hospital policies and nursing standards. The Emergency Department RN is responsible for caring for patients facing diverse medical emergencies and must be adept at recognizing and addressing life-threatening conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Recent experience in emergency or critical care settings is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of NC.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • ACLS Certification to be obtained during orientation.
  • PALS Certification to be acquired within three months.
  • TNCC Certification is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

The Emergency Department RN delivers direct and personalized nursing care to patients based on established nursing principles. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Creating a supportive environment by offering emotional, psychological, and spiritual assistance to patients and their families.
  2. Administering professional nursing care to patients.
  3. Maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment.
  4. Adhering to infection control protocols to protect patients and staff.
  5. Ensuring the safe operation of medical equipment.
  6. Preparing equipment and assisting physicians during procedures specific to the emergency department.
  7. Administering medications accurately through the electronic health record system.
  8. Documenting, monitoring, and reporting changes in patient conditions.
  9. Providing education to patients regarding their health conditions and promoting wellness and disease prevention.
  10. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
  11. Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  12. Conducting comprehensive assessments and reassessments for all age groups.
  13. Engaging professionally with patients and families, providing clear explanations and reassurance.
  14. Developing and updating individualized care plans for each patient.
  15. Acting as an advocate for patients' needs.
  16. Complying with established protocols, procedures, and policies.
  17. Demonstrating knowledge of cardiac monitoring and appropriate interventions.
  18. Prioritizing nursing care and employing critical thinking skills.
  19. Understanding proper dosing and administration of critical medications.
  20. Documenting all nursing care accurately and promptly.
  21. Interacting appropriately with all hospital staff, visitors, and physicians.
  22. Exhibiting flexibility and organization while functioning under pressure.
  23. Demonstrating professionalism and respect towards all individuals.
  24. Participating in the orientation and training of new staff members, serving as a resource and mentor.
  25. Engaging in special projects and quality improvement initiatives.
  26. Comprehending the triage process and effectively prioritizing patient acuity based on comprehensive assessments.
