Graduate Assistant

James Madison University Recreation (UREC) is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports and Youth Programs. This is a part-time position that involves coordinating team sport officials and site managers training, supervision, and evaluation. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Intramural Sports site manager and sport officials student staffs, coordinate selected aspects of Intramural Sports and Youth Programs program planning, and supervise facilities at the University Recreation Center and satellite facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably with experience in sports officiating and/or officials training. Preference will be given to those with formal acceptance into the Sport and Recreation Leadership graduate program, Campus Recreation Concentration.
Conditions of EmploymentStudents may apply to a graduate assistantship prior to being accepted into a graduate program. However, to be eligible to receive an assistantship upon entry into a graduate program, the following criteria must be met:
- The student must be conditionally or unconditionally accepted into a graduate program
- The student must have an official transcript on file indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or agency
- The student must maintain at least a 3.0 graduate GPA in order to retain or reapply for the assistantship
