Job Title: Senior Principal Materials Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Materials Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the technical development and implementation of materials and processes for our military aircraft programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical development and implementation of materials and processes for military aircraft programs
  • Develop and maintain parts, materials, and process specifications
  • Recommend and support the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of metallic materials and processes
  • Generate test plans and reports
  • Work with design engineers to select and apply metallic materials systems
  • Participate in anomaly resolution and provide non-conformance and failure analysis assessments
  • Review and approve engineering drawings
  • Support subcontractors with metallic part/material requirements interpretation and review of subcontractor data requirements lists
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and accomplish them simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Active DoD Secret clearance granted or renewed within the last 6 years
  • Experience with military specs and standards
  • Experience interfacing with a military customer
Salary Range:

$133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
