Job Title: Public Health Nurse

Are you a motivated Registered Nurse looking to make a positive impact within your community? New Hanover County is seeking a Licensed Registered Nurse to join the Community Health team at the Health and Human Services department.

Job Summary:

The RN will provide public health skilled nursing procedures, including interviewing patients and responding to questions for TB Suspects and Cases, delivering, dispensing, administering appropriate medications and vaccines; performing screening tests; counseling clients on test results and public health issues; interacting with the family and resources involved with the patient's care; and documenting and maintaining patient records in ELR.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide public health skilled nursing procedures, including interviewing patients and responding to questions for TB Suspects and Cases
  • Deliver, dispense, and administer appropriate medications and vaccines
  • Perform screening tests and counsel clients on test results and public health issues
  • Interact with the family and resources involved with the patient's care
  • Document and maintain patient records in ELR
Requirements:
  • Valid RN license with eligibility to practice in NC
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing that includes a public health rotation
  • One (1) year of professional nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working in a department of public health
  • Experience working in TB or communicable diseases
