Job Summary

The Truck Driver position at Herc Rentals is a critical role that requires a professional and safe driver to transport, deliver, and retrieve assorted construction and heavy equipment. As a key member of our team, you will operate both commercial and non-commercial vehicles, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of equipment to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation and Delivery: Safely transport and deliver construction and heavy equipment to various locations, adhering to strict safety protocols and regulations.
  • Vehicle Operation: Operate commercial and non-commercial vehicles, ensuring compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and company policies.
  • Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform regular pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in good working condition and meet safety standards.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate delivery documents and records, available for inspection upon request.
  • Equipment Security: Secure construction equipment and other equipment using chaining, strapping, and binding, adhering to established procedures and regulations.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Maintain open communication with Branch Manager and central dispatch regarding delivery schedules, delays, traffic conditions, and weather updates.
  • Safety Culture: Prioritize the safety of people and adhere to Herc Rentals' Safety culture, actively participating in safety initiatives and reporting any safety concerns.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as assigned, including building positive relationships with customers and following all company procedures and protocols.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year of verifiable driving experience or a CDL license.
  • Medical Requirements: Valid Medical Card.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Trailer towing or rollback experience, hauling experience, construction equipment operating experience.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform basic physical tasks, such as lifting 50lbs or more, reading, typing, and writing.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work indoors and outdoors when required, sitting, standing, walking, and maintaining balance for extended periods.
  • Skills: Knowledge of commercial driving skills, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, customer service focus, and ability to react to changing business needs.
