Job Summary

This is a substitute role for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in the district. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing health education programs for students, advising and assisting in the treatment of ill or injured students and faculty, and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities
  • Provide health education programs for students according to state standards.
  • Advises and assists in the treatment of ill or injured students and faculty.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act.
  • Coordinate and provide health education programs for students.
  • Participate in programs designed to promote professional growth.
  • Provide health education information to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist in the interpretation of health issues.
  • Assist in the formation of health policies, goals, and objectives for the school district.
  • Document and report suspected child abuse according to Oklahoma State Laws.
  • Advise administration regarding exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious conditions.
  • Serve as a liaison to community agencies and the medical community.
  • Assist school officials in assuring that students meet immunization standards as defined by law.
  • Makes necessary medical referrals.
  • Assist in the modification of the educational programs to meet the health needs of individual students.
  • Participate in the development of the individualized education plan for special education students as needed.
  • Participate in the development of 504 plans and the implementation of the plans for students.
  • Provide services to promote health for students and staff.
  • Assist unlicensed personnel in health-related tasks.
  • Establish and maintain adequate health records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Design and monitor procedures for administration and storage of all medication in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Is actively involved in professional growth activities.
  • Accepts responsibility and arrives punctually for activities and duties as assigned.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional activities and serves on committees as required.
  • Abides by all district, state, and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other health-related duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Physical Demands

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs.
  • Lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Operate computers, copy machines, and other office machines as needed.
