Material Handling Equipment Technician

As a Material Handling Equipment Technician with Gregory Poole Equipment Company, you will be responsible for performing advanced repairs on material handling equipment in the field. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review work schedules, check equipment and supplies, and prepare for duties.
- Use repair manuals, parts manuals, and diagrams to troubleshoot engines, transmissions, and other components.
- Load service trucks with parts and equipment needed for field repairs.
- Use lift trucks, hoists, and other aids to lift or move parts into position.
- Perform all necessary safety checks on equipment per procedures and policy.
- Use miscellaneous resources and computers to reference parts, get information, and enter data into record systems.
- Disassemble and reassemble parts or equipment, drain fluids, and clean parts with rags and cleaners.
- Replace pumps, batteries, radiators, bearings, seals, wiring, solenoids, fuel lines, and test float valves.
- Use hoists to move parts off vehicles and onto service trucks and back to vehicles for reassembly.
- Test and recalibrate equipment, train operators, and complete warranty paperwork.
- Perform inspections, do preventative maintenance, change oil, replace filters, belts, coolants, hoses, and drain/clean/refill fuel systems.
Requirements:
Education:
High school education or GED required.
Work Experience:
At least six years of experience with two years on Yale, Clark, or similar equipment. Proficiency in at least two mechanical systems (transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.) for numerous model lines required.
Physical:
Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb beside, onto, and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs.
Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 100 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
Other:
Must be able to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
Must have cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems.
Should have exposure to PC-based equipment and parts information; can work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively communicate promoting good customer service.Field activity - must be able to daily operate a service vehicle and drive for extended periods to reach customer's locations.
Must be able to effectively communicate using telephones to receive instructions and to provide service information.Additional:
Field activities require a valid state driver's license (obtain within 30 days of hire a valid license within the state of GPEC's operation) AND possess a safe driving record, as outlined in our GPEC Motor Vehicle Policy.
Some vehicles may require having or obtaining a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
