Job Title: Therapist Speech and Language Lead

Job Summary:

The Therapist Speech and Language Lead provides critical support to speech-language pathologists (SLPs) assigned to every school, ensuring prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with language, speech, voice, and fluency difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports district SLPs with intervention strategies based on student performance and best practices in speech pathology.
  • Collaborates with SLPs and school-based special education teams to develop and implement instructionally appropriate IEPs.
  • Provides case management support to SLPs on administering formal standardized assessments, interpreting student data, and applying TDOE special education assessment guidelines.
  • Trains and supports district SLPs with procedural documentation for students, including assessment reports, therapy data collection, IEPs, and Medicaid documentation.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders across the district to manage speech-language disorders, providing coaching and training as needed.
  • Supports SLPs and school-level professionals in analyzing and interpreting information to make recommendations on speech-language services.
  • Participates in leadership activities, including planning professional development, supporting professional learning communities, and disseminating district information.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Tennessee Department of Education Teacher's License (Practitioner/Professional School Services Provider).
  • Experience in speech-language pathology and/or exceptional education preferred.
