Job Title:

Speech-Language Pathologist

Job Summary:

As a Speech-Language Pathologist at Metro Nashville Public Schools, you will play a vital role in providing prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. You will work closely with students, teachers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement individualized plans to support students' communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan and provide evidence-based interventions for individual students and groups of students, adjusting strategies based on student performance and best practices in speech pathology.
  2. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on students' strengths and needs.
  3. Administer formal and informal assessments, observing students in educational environments and selecting appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.
  4. Complete required procedural documentation for students, including assessment reports, therapy data collection, IEPs, re-evaluation documents, progress reporting, and Medicaid documentation.
  5. Collaborate and consult with stakeholders, including general education teachers, exceptional education teachers, psychologists, occupational therapists, and school counselors, to manage speech-language disorders and provide coaching and training as needed.
  6. Analyze and interpret information to make recommendations regarding the need and intensity level for speech-language services.
  7. Serve on student support teams and make recommendations for speech and language interventions, conducting screenings as needed.
  8. Develop and maintain scheduling for speech and language therapy and instructional services, IEP and eligibility meetings, assessments, and collaboration with stakeholders.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology and a Tennessee Department of Education Teacher's License (Practitioner/Professional School Services Provider). Preferred skills include communication and listening skills, analytical skills, effective interpersonal skills, flexibility, and organization.
