Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at Metro Nashville Public Schools. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and provide evidence-based interventions for individual students and groups of students, adjusting strategies based on student performance and best practices in the field of speech pathology.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on students' strengths and needs.
  • Administer formal and informal assessments, observing students in educational environments and selecting appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.
  • Complete all required procedural documentation for students, including assessment reports, therapy data collection, IEPs, re-evaluation documents, progress reporting, and Medicaid documentation.
  • Collaborate and consult with stakeholders, including general education teachers, exceptional education teachers, psychologists, occupational therapists, vision teachers, and school counselors, to manage speech-language disorders and provide coaching and training as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret information to make recommendations regarding the need and intensity level for speech-language services.
  • Serve on student support teams and make recommendations for speech and language interventions, as needed.
  • Develop and maintain scheduling for speech and language therapy and instructional services, IEP and eligibility meetings, assessments, collaboration and planning with stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Tennessee Department of Education Teacher's License (Practitioner/Professional School Services Provider).
  • Preferred experience in speech-language pathology.

Working Conditions:

This position requires light work involving standing or walking some of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, and moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools, or office equipment.
