UNC Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join their team in Clayton, North Carolina.
Job DescriptionThe Medical Technologist will perform various patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNC Healthcare System.
Responsibilities- Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
- Participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
- Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees.
- Perform quality control and equipment maintenance in the laboratory.
- Conduct routine and less standardized test procedures, including special chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests.
- Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
- Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
- Review test results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Lab Science, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
- Eligibility to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of hire.
- Obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
- No prior experience required.
- Full-time position.
- 40 hours per week.
- Evening shift differential available.
- Flexible schedule, Monday - Friday, 4pm - 12am or 3pm - 11:00pm.
