Job Overview

An Industrial Pipefitting Assistant is responsible for supporting the assembly, layout, installation, and upkeep of piping systems within an industrial construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine all necessary tools for assigned tasks.
  • Recognize safety hazards and implement measures to mitigate those risks.
  • Assist in the preparation, fabrication, installation, and alignment of pipes according to specifications.
  • Support the installation of valves, hangers, supports, and flanges within the piping framework in accordance with plans and relevant specifications.
  • Participate in testing procedures to verify the integrity of pipes and piping systems.
  • Assist in hoisting materials using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging apparatus.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an industrial Pipefitting Assistant.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Must possess reliable transportation.
  • Capability to meet all physical demands associated with the role.
  • Experience in an industrial construction setting is required.
  • Must have access to all necessary tools.

Physical Demands

The role requires extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting. Communication through speaking and hearing is essential. The employee will utilize arms and hands for signaling, gripping, holding, turning, pushing, and pulling objects, materials, controls, and tools. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs is necessary. Work may involve heights, climbing ladders and stairways, and occasionally working from platforms or scaffolding with appropriate fall protection. The employee must be able to work in various weather conditions while wearing suitable personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, masks, high-visibility vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
