Director of Embedded Solutions Partnerships

Are you a seasoned sales professional looking for a new challenge? Do you have a passion for technology and a desire to work with innovative companies? We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Embedded Solutions Partnerships to join our team at Canonical - Jobs. As a key member of our sales team, you will drive partnerships for licensing and embedding Ubuntu and Ubuntu Pro into software and SaaS solutions. You will work closely with Product, Alliances, Sales, Business Development, and Marketing colleagues to prospect into ISV accounts, introduce our offerings, and help partners or potential customers develop their products to best leverage our portfolio.
The estimated salary for this position is around $130,000 per year, based on industry standards and location. However, this may vary depending on your background and experience.
This role requires:
- Leading the development of partnerships with ISVs to license and embed Ubuntu and Ubuntu Pro into software and SaaS solutions.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and partners, and guiding them through all stages of the sales, customer success and support lifecycle.
- Developing a deep understanding of the open source ecosystem and engaging with it effectively.
- Creating and implementing strategies to identify and develop partnerships that support Canonical's strategic ambitions.
- Collaborating with product management to ensure that our platforms and solutions meet the needs of ISVs.
- Negotiating contracts with new and existing ISV partners and customers.
- Shaping our content and messaging for ISV partners and customers.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An exceptional academic record from both high school and university.
- A degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path.
- Ability to build strong relationships with large organisations at all levels.
- A passion for technology and extensive experience with the software and SaaS industry, Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), the open source ecosystem, cloud models, and container service offerings.
- Experience with lead generation and business development in the software sector.
- Excellent communication skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Strong business English writing and presentation skills.
- A personal drive to meet commitments and a track record of delivering beyond expectations.
- A commitment to leadership, skills development and mentorship.
- An appreciation of diversity and effectiveness in a multicultural, multi-national organisation.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
