Position Overview

The Aquatic Director will play a pivotal role in leading the Aquatic Department under the guidance of the Branch Director of Operations. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities including:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight for all aquatic activities.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for the Aquatic Department.
  • Program Development: Design and implement innovative aquatic programs that cater to diverse community needs.
  • Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with all local and state health regulations and maintain high safety standards.
  • Staff Development: Supervise, mentor, and develop staff members to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Swim Team Oversight: Manage and support the swim team, ensuring a positive and competitive environment.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in aquatic settings.
  • Proven experience in staff supervision and development.
  • A BS degree in physical education, recreation, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Current certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
  • Preferred certifications include CPO or YMCA Pool certification (opportunity to obtain within 6 months).
  • Knowledge of competitive aquatic programs.
  • Experience in program management and budget oversight.
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Adeptness in engaging with a diverse community.
Physical Requirements

The role may involve:

  • Regular walking, standing, and sitting.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull as necessary.
  • Working in humid aquatic environments.
  • Evening and weekend hours may be required.
