Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Educator to join our team at the Gadsden Correctional Facility. As an Academic Educator, you will be responsible for providing instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula, promoting academic excellence, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct classes for inmates in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED), life skills, cultural awareness, health education, and special curriculum.
  • Prepare special teaching plans, courses, and activities tailored to the specific needs of the inmates.
  • Utilize audio and visual teaching materials to enhance the learning experience.
  • Administer individual educational tests and learning aptitude tests to inform instruction.
  • Participate in staff conferences to develop and improve educational programs.
  • Counsel and advise inmates on academic problems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
  • Valid teaching certificate from the Florida Department of Education or comparable authority.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record.
